Islands of Rebellion, the second book in the Empire of Machines series, is now available on Kindle, including Kindle Unlimited! (Paperback coming soon.)

This book continues the story of humanity's rebellion against the interstellar empire created and controlled by the machines. This one was both a challenge and a pleasure to write; the storyline is complex, unfolding on multiple worlds, and the technology of robotics and artificial intelligence are endlessly fascinating to me, which is why this series explores many facets of those topics simultaneously. Engines of Empire (Empire of Machines, Book 1) is available today!

The machines are evolving all around us. Every day they grow faster, smarter, deadlier. Vast sums pour into research to create autonomous machines that can do everything from drive our cars to fight our wars. Artificial intelligence silently tracks our every movement, every purchase, every communication.

In my new series, Empire of Machines, some humans live at peak benefit from robotics and artificial intelligence, enjoying unprecedented wealth and power while machines carry out every dirty task, from cleaning their homes to conquering and ruling an empire of human-settled worlds.

Other humans, including all those on Earth, live at the bottom of the system, among bombed-out ruins of formerly splendorous civilizations, struggling to survive as the machines hunt them through the rubble. Some of them have begun to fight back.

I've spent most of the last year preparing the Empire of Machines trilogy, exploring the extremes of the possibilities ahead while following heroic individuals through an interplanetary epic.

Today, the first book, Engines of Empire, is finally live on Amazon. I'm excited to finally bring this story out to the world, after laboring so long in a dark cave to bring it to life. (And sure, that “dark cave” might just be my garage, with a decent window view of the woods out back, but you get the picture.)

New series coming soon: Empire of Machines

Empire of Machines, my new series, is on its way! The first two book have been written and will be released close together. These books portray a future filled with military machines, from robotic infantry to AI-driven warships, and the humans who must confront them. 

This is probably my favorite thing I've written, and I can't wait to share it with readers. Look for book 1 sometime in August. I'll post more information and updates soon!
